Simply put, Boom Blox is an incredibly fun game of physics. You pick up blocks (I mean Blox), you throw them, you blow them up, you create domino effects, the list goes on. It's not a particularly deep game, but it doesn't need to be.

The game's entire premise is based on variations of the theme of blocks (Blox!). Gameplay-wise, it consists of two major elements: adventures and challenges. The challenges consist of individual puzzles that work on various principles of the different Blox in the game. The adventure mode is a plot-driven sort of series of challenges. The plot is pretty thin and seems to only be there for the face value, but it manages to not detract from the game overall, which is more than some games' adventures can say.

But the game isn't as simple as what you can knock over. Aside from the normal blox, there are bomb blox, which explode when they are hit by a ball lobbed via the Wiimote; vanish blox, which simply...well, vanish upon being hit by the player; and chemical blox, which may be the most fun, explode when they come into contact with with each other. Imagine hitting a vanish blox at the base of a large structure, causing part of it tip until two chemical blox touch and explode, while the ball bounces off into a bomb blox, causing another part to explode. It is far more fun than I can describe here.

And on to the game's next greatest achievement: the physics. The physics are tight enough to allow towers and walls to collapse in a realistic fashion, but loose enough to have some fun with it. Collision is a bit of an issue; sometimes the ball bounces oddly or gets "thrown" at a slightly different angle than you expect, causing it to hit some other blox you weren't aiming at. I don't know if it's just with my Wiimote, or my sensor bar, but on occasion in the act of drawing my arm back and throwing, the cursor would fail to register on the screen when I released the ball, meaning nothing would happen and I would have to re-aim and re-throw my shot--in the time-sensitive puzzles, obviously, this is a considerable issue, albeit relatively rare.

Ultimately, it's a basic puzzle game with great physics. Plot and graphics are a bit weak, but they're not the selling point, and neither are they even slightly important. You play this game to knock over towers, not find out whose twin married the millionare's daughter at the stroke of midnight. Long story short, if you have a Wii, play this game.
